What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates, which emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and awareness in order to support efficient, graceful movement. Pilates is one of the most popular exercise systems in the country because it is an adaptable method that is safe and challenging for a person at any level or ability.

What is HarmonyPilates?

HarmonyPilates is core training, an integrative exercise, and a mind-body fitness discipline for rehabilitation, pre/postnatal clients as well as for dancers, athletes, artists and and people preparing to be in the best shape of their lives.

Joseph Pilates , Pilates founder used to say "I teach for the body in front of me" and this is exactly what Diana Garcia-Snyder does. Her teaching technique is primarely based on classical and contemporary Pilates although she also incorporates yoga, somatic/dance movement techniques, and the knowledge of the chakras or energetic points in the body, all to deliver a unique and personalized workout for her clients.

Diana uses traditional Pilates equipment (cadillac, reformer, chair and props) in a number of ways, which makes every session different and engaging. HarmonyPilates goal is the development of a ballanced body through core strength, flexibility, and energy field awareness in order to support efficient, graceful movement .

What is Diana Garcia-Snyder's backgrownd and experience?

Diana Garcia-Snyder discovered Pilates as a way to keep herself strong and injury-free so that she could continue her work as a dancer and choreographer. She completed her mat Pilates teacher training in Chicago in 2003 and received her full Pilates certification at Vitality Pilates . She is also a Vinyasa yoga partitioner and holds a Masters Degree in dance and movement research from the University of Washigton.

She has integrated Authentic Pilates and the STOTT Pilates method into her teaching, allowing her to draw from both classical and contemporary approaches. Also Diana’s 20 years of professional dance training (ballet, modern dance and butoh ) gives her an expert eye for movement. Diana's yoga background also allows her to integrate effective yoga stretches into her client’s workouts. She is a patient and thoughtful instructor and enjoys working with beginners, prenatal and post-partum moms, people who work for long hours at their desks, as well as more advanced clients such as dancers and athletes. She is the Co-Founder of DAIPAN Butoh Collective, and enjoys collaborating with artist of many disciplines to create solo dances that integrate western and eastern forms of dance.
